Sewing machines in Brussels
Brenda answers you on WhatsApp, Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
From Brussels, the shop is a good half-hour away via the E411, towards Namur, taking the exit for Wavre and then Chaussée de Wavre. The journey is worthwhile for two simple reasons: you can try the sewing machines before buying, and the repair workshop is on site, rather than in a distant service centre where the machine may be away for several weeks.
Getting from Brussels to the shop
Allow about thirty minutes outside peak hours from the south-east of the city, and a little longer from the centre or west. The shop is on the outskirts of the urban area, which makes a difference when you need to load a machine into the boot.

What the trip brings you
The real-life test
The noise under load, feeding across three layers, the actual space under the arm: none of this appears on a product page. Our guide, which sewing machine to choose for beginners, sets out the criteria.
Getting started
More than an hour for every machine purchase, in-store or remotely. Threading, tension, useful stitches, routine maintenance.
The workshop on site
The machine is opened up, diagnosed and returned by the same team that sold it to you. Often, it is a setting that needs adjusting rather than a breakdown.
The fabric in hand
The drape of viscose, the weight of a sweatshirt, the hand of washed linen: these are judged between your fingers, in daylight, never from a photo.
How a purchase works, from the door to the first stitch
- You tell us what you sewJersey, a wool coat, leatherwork, a small production run: each answer eliminates half the range.
- We bring out two or three machinesNot ten. You sew on them, using your own fabric if you brought some.
- You leave with the machineAdjusted and ready. Delivery is free for purchases over €500 if you came by train; details are on the delivery costs page.
- Getting startedMore than an hour, included, in-store or remotely. The remote option avoids a second trip from Brussels.
- The workshop takes over afterwards5-year warranty, servicing every two years, repairs for all brands.
Machines by use
Verotex is a Juki Concept Store and an official retailer of BERNINA, bernette and Lewenstein. Advice starts with the project: garments, jersey, lightweight leatherwork and quilting do not call for the same mechanics.
- Machines for beginners, mechanical or electronic.
- Semi-professional models for intensive sewing and heavy fabrics.
- Overlockers and coverstitch machines.
- Embroidery machines and quilting machines.
- Semi-industrial straight-stitch machines for workshops and creators producing in series.
- Ironing equipment and cutting machines.
The workshop: repair and maintenance for all brands
The workshop accepts machines bought from Verotex as well as those purchased elsewhere, from all brands, with a quote before any work begins. Almost everything is repaired on-site; a part is sent to the manufacturer only when there is no other solution. BERNINA machines are repaired regardless of age; a machine from the seventies can be restored just as well as a recent model.
A service every two years is sufficient for regular use, or once a year if the machine is used heavily. Between services, cleaning your overlocker is easy to do at home. For everything else, see the repair and maintenance service.
Fabrics, haberdashery and patterns
Fabrics are cut by the metre, to order: the exact length you need, without paying for unnecessary offcuts. The drape of viscose, the weight of French Terry, and the hand of linen are best judged between your fingers. Cotton poplin, denim, double gauze , and organic fabrics make up most of the cuts that go out.
Also available are haberdashery, sewing patterns, machine accessories, and a guide to finding the grainline. Free delivery on fabrics from €75.
Learn to sew from Brussels
Sewing classes are held in small groups in Grez-Doiceau, with pattern drafting for those who want to cut to their measurements. There are also children's classes and classes held off-site. The space can be rented for a sewing team-building event or a birthday party.
Is the trip worth it?
Yes, if
- you are buying a machine: the trial and getting to grips with it help you avoid choosing a model that then sits unused in a cupboard;
- your machine is skipping stitches or making a new noise;
- you sew in series and are looking for a lockstitch machine;
- you want fabric cut to the exact length.
Not necessarily, if
- you already know which model you want: online ordering is sufficient, and getting to grips with it takes place remotely;
- you are looking for a standard supply;
- you cannot come during opening hours: write to us on WhatsApp.
