How to use Jersey Punto fabric?
For a neat result, choose a stretch or jersey needle, generally size 75 to 90 depending on the fabric’s thickness. These needles prevent skipped stitches and preserve the fabric’s elasticity without damaging it.
When it comes to thread, choose a polyester thread of good quality, which is more durable than cotton and better suited to stretchy fabrics. For the main seams, a stretch stitch (light zigzag or lightning stitch) is recommended to maintain the flexibility of the seams.
Using an overlocker is a plus, but not essential. A standard sewing machine equipped with the right presser foot and properly adjusted will do the job perfectly. Finally, remember to iron gently on the reverse side to preserve the fabric’s structure.
