How to use Jersey Punto fabric?
For a clean finish, prefer a stretch or jersey needle, usually size 75 to 90 depending on the fabric thickness. These needles prevent skipped stitches and preserve the fabric’s elasticity without damaging it.
For thread, choose a good quality polyester thread, which is more durable than cotton and better suited for stretch fabrics. For main seams, a stretch stitch (light zigzag or lightning stitch) is recommended to maintain the flexibility of the seams.
Using a serger is a plus, but not essential. A classic sewing machine equipped with the right presser foot and properly adjusted will do the job perfectly. Finally, remember to press gently on the wrong side to preserve the fabric’s structure.
