How to use Jersey Punto fabric?
For a neat result, choose a stretch or jersey needle, generally size 75 to 90 depending on the fabric's thickness. These needles prevent skipped stitches and preserve the fabric's elasticity without damaging it.
For the thread, choose a good-quality polyester thread, which is more durable than cotton and better suited to stretch fabrics. For the main seams, a stretch stitch (light zigzag or lightning stitch) is recommended to maintain the flexibility of the seams.
Using an overlocker is a plus, but not essential. A standard sewing machine fitted with the right presser foot and properly adjusted will work perfectly well. Finally, remember to iron on the reverse side at a low temperature to preserve the fabric's structure.
