Tutorial: Sew a scrunchie

It's well known that learning to sew is complicated, especially when you don't know where to start. In this tutorial, we show you how to sew a DIY scrunchie. This accessory is perfect if you're looking to start sewing!

Here is the list of materials you will need:

• Fabric
• A pair of scissors
• An elastic band
• Clamps
• Thread
• A sewing machine

There is no specific type of fabric for scrunchies. However, we recommend a few, for example Swiss cotton , denim , cotton poplin , double gauze , etc. PS: Satin can also be used and it won't damage the structure of your hair. 😉

Step 1: First, take a piece of fabric and cut it 10 cm by 60 cm. Fold it in half, right sides together, remembering to leave 4 cm at the beginning and end then pin it using clips.

Step 2: Start sewing from the first clamp, as shown in the picture below, to the last one. Remove the clamps as the tube forms. Once finished, turn the tube over so you can see the front side of the fabric.

Step 3: Join the ends right sides together as shown in the picture below, then sew.

Step 4: Choose any elastic you like, as long as it's strong enough to pull. Cut off 20 cm of it, then thread it through the tube. Make sure to hold both ends tightly and sew them together using the zigzag mode on your sewing machine.

Step 5: Once finished, fold back the remaining centimeters of your fabric to make an internalhem then topstitch everything.
