- cotton poplin fabric : poplin is a lightweight and easy-to-sew fabric suitable for many sewing projects. Slightly stretchy and easy to sew, it is the perfect fabric for starting sewing. It does not shift, making it very easy to handle.
- linen fabrics: linen is a sturdy and durable fabric. It is the ideal material for beginners.
- Swiss cotton fabric : Swiss cotton is a lightweight and soft cotton fabric suitable for many beginner sewing projects. Thanks to its mercerized thread, it has a silky effect. It sews like cotton poplin, the sewing machine feeds the fabric very well ease.
- jersey fabric: jersey is a soft and stretchy fabric, usually knitted or made from blends of viscose or cotton jersey. It is a stretchy and comfortable fabric suitable for many beginner sewing projects, such as T-shirts and leggings. It is recommended to let the fabric glide under the machine without pulling on it.

Jersey fabric can be intimidating at first use, but if you use it correctly without pulling during sewing, you will be satisfied with the result. If you have a good stretch needle and your sewing machine tension is properly adjusted when switching to zigzag stitch, there will be no problem.
It is perfectly normal to want to try sewing in different ways and to want to mix materials. But for your first sewing projects, try to stick to the same types of fabric. Making a DIY scrunchie, for example, is an excellent way to start while working with a simple material like cotton or a Barbie fabric with original patterns.
