Le point droit d'une industrielle dans un format d'atelier. Pour le quilting et les matières lourdes, c'est une TL qu'on prend, pas une HZL.

Juki was born in industry: since 1938, the Japanese brand has equipped garment factories around the world, and it is this factory engineering that it has transferred to its machines for workshops and home users. When we talk about a “professional Juki sewing machine,” we are referring to two distinct ranges sold by Verotex, an official retailer: the TL Series semi-industrial lockstitch machines and the high-end domestic HZL Series. This guide explains how they differ and which model to choose for your work, in our Juki sewing machine collection.

What makes Juki renowned

Three things are consistently mentioned by everyone who works with Juki: the penetrating power that handles layers of denim, canvas, or faux leather without straining; stitch consistency, identical at low and high speeds; and durability, with cast-aluminum frames and mechanisms designed to run for hours a day. On the HZL domestic machines, the Box Feed system moves the fabric in a rectangular rather than elliptical motion: layers do not shift, lightweight fabrics do not gather, and heavy fabrics do not slip.

At Verotex, we have been selling and repairing Juki machines for years. All new machines come with a 5-year warranty, are adjusted and explained before dispatch, and our workshop provides servicing in Grez-Doiceau.

TL Series: semi-industrial lockstitch machines

A single stitch, the straight stitch, but executed like in a factory: up to 1,500 stitches per minute, generous clearance under the arm, automatic thread cutter, knee lifter for raising the presser foot without letting go of the fabric, precise presser-foot pressure and tension adjustment. This is the machine for seamstresses, bag and accessory makers, quilters, and small-batch workshops. It sits on an ordinary table and costs less than a high-end domestic machine.

JUKI TL-2300: the benchmark for heavy-duty sewing

The JUKI TL-2300 (€1,879) is the model we recommend for denim, faux leather, heavy linen, canvas, and regular production. Cast-aluminum frame, free arm for tubular pieces, large illuminated work area, compatible with professional presser feet (rolling foot, walking foot, cording foot). It does not vibrate, it does not stall, and it only needs to be adjusted once for long-lasting performance.

JUKI TL-2200QVP Mini: precision for quilting and patchwork

The JUKI TL-2200QVP Mini (€1,789) retains the mechanics of the TL series in a more compact format, with a speed controller, automatic thread cutter and very low vibration. It is designed for free-motion quilting and precision patchwork, but sews garments and accessories just as well. If your work is mainly straight stitching and you are short on space, this is the one.

HZL series: professional domestic machines

All stitches, automatic buttonholes, thread cutter, needle threader, and above all the Box Feed and a motor that handles thick layers. These are the Juki machines chosen by garment makers, sewing teachers and those who want one machine that can do everything at an intensive pace.

JUKI HZL-DX7: the best value for power and price

The JUKI HZL-DX7 (€1,679) is our best-selling Juki among professionals: Box Feed, 287 stitches, several types of automatic buttonholes, thread cutter, knee lifter, and an optional walking foot. It handles several layers of denim and sews jersey without puckering. The HZL-DX5 (€1,459) and HZL-DX3 (€1,399, or €1,150 refurbished) offer the same mechanics with fewer stitches and automated functions.

JUKI HZL-NX7 and HZL-UX8: the long arm and the high-end models

The JUKI HZL-NX7 (€2,999) adds a long arm and a large workspace: quilts, curtains, large home furnishings. The JUKI HZL-UX8 (€3,999) is the top of the range, with a touchscreen, extended lighting and fully automated functions: it is the machine for a professional who sews varied pieces every day and wants maximum comfort.

Many professionals end up with both: a TL for fast straight stitching and an HZL for everything else. And for finishing, the Juki overlocker (MO-2000QVP, MO-3500) completes the workshop.

Try before you buy: Juki rental

Are you hesitating between the TL-2300 and an HZL, or do you have a one-off project? Our Juki sewing machine rental service lets you work on a lockstitch machine or a professional overlocker for a few days or weeks before deciding. The machines are also available for demonstration in the store.

Maintaining a professional Juki

A well-maintained Juki lasts fifteen years or more. Useful maintenance steps: remove dust from the bobbin compartment and feed dogs after every long session, oil the points indicated in the manual (the TL models require a few drops regularly, while the HZL models require much less), change the needle every 8 to 10 hours of sewing and choose the right one for the material, and use original bobbins and parts. An annual service at the workshop helps prevent breakdowns when the machine is used every day. Signs that mean you should bring it to us: skipped stitches despite a new needle, metallic noise, thread that keeps breaking, or tension that cannot be adjusted.

Frequently asked questions

Which professional Juki sewing machine should you choose to start a business?

For alterations and accessories, the TL-2300. For creating garments, the HZL-DX7. Both are easy to get started with and can grow with you.

What is the difference between the TL-2300 and the TL-2200QVP Mini?

Same mechanics; the TL-2300 is more powerful and better suited to high volumes and heavy materials, while the TL-2200QVP Mini is more compact, equipped with a speed controller, and designed for precision quilting.

Is a professional Juki sewing machine noisy?

The TL lockstitch machines are noisier than a domestic machine, but much quieter than an industrial machine with a separate motor. The HZL models are among the quietest domestic machines.

Where can you have a Juki repaired in Belgium?

At Verotex, in Grez-Doiceau (Walloon Brabant): our workshop services and repairs Juki machines and all other brands, using original parts.
