Tutorial: how to make a tug toy for a dog

Learn how to make a tug toy, the perfect toy for your dog, with our simple and practical guide.

If you have a very playful dog but it doesn’t play with its toys, don’t waste your money. Instead, we suggest making your own dog tug toy with this easy no-sew tutorial. A simple, effective, and fun activity to do with the family!

To start, you will only need two things:

• fleece fabric
• And a pair of scissors.

You can choose between 1, 2, or 4 different colors. Feel free to mix colors. Find all our fleece fabrics by clicking here.

Step 1: Spread your fleece fabric on a flat surface, cut 4 strips about 7 cm x 150 cm. They don’t have to be perfect, but feel free to use heavy objects to keep the fabric in place.

If you have 2 colors, cut 2 strips of each. If you have 4, cut one strip of each.

Step 2: Tie a knot by joining the 4 strip ends, pull tight, and spread the ends as shown in the image below so that one end is at the top, another at the bottom, and the other two to the left and right.

Step 3: Make a loop on the top and bottom strips, pass the left and right strips through the loops, and pull. Don’t hesitate to pull tight; the fabric is strong enough and won’t fray. Continue this way until you have 20 cm of fabric left.
